The twin shaft shredder is a low-speed and high-torque shredding machine used for primary size reduction of bulky and irregular materials. It uses two counter-rotating cutter shafts to grab, shear and tear materials into smaller loose pieces before further crushing, sorting, baling or transportation.

The machine adopts a heavy-duty frame, alloy cutter discs, hardened cutter shafts, reducers and bearing seats. Cutter thickness, tooth shape, shaft speed, feeding method and discharge method can be customized according to material type and output requirements.

The twin shaft shredder can be used for processing light scrap metal, aluminum profiles, color steel tiles, metal drums, paint buckets, appliance shells, plastic drums, waste tires, wooden pallets and mixed industrial waste. Working Principle

A twin shaft shredder is a low-speed and high-torque shredding machine used for primary size reduction of bulky, irregular and mixed recyclable materials. It mainly consists of two counter-rotating cutter shafts. Each shaft is equipped with multiple alloy cutter discs, and the cutter discs on the two shafts are arranged alternately with spacers.

After the material is fed into the hopper, it falls into the area between the two cutter shafts. The two shafts rotate toward each other, and the cutter discs grab, pull and press the material into the shredding chamber.

During operation, the material is repeatedly squeezed, sheared and torn by the cutter discs and spacers. Large materials such as metal drums, plastic drums, aluminum profiles, appliance shells, tires, wooden pallets and other bulky materials are gradually shredded into smaller strips or irregular pieces.

The output size is mainly affected by cutter thickness, tooth shape, blade gap, shaft speed, material type and feeding amount. If a screen or bottom grid is configured, it can help control the discharge size. For materials that require smaller or more uniform output, the shredded material can be sent to a downstream crusher, magnetic separator, eddy current separator or other recycling equipment for further processing.

When the shredder meets hard or overloaded material, the control system can reverse the cutter shafts to release the material and reduce overload. This helps protect the cutter shafts, blades, reducers and drive system during continuous operation.
