Aluminum Profile Crushing Process
The aluminum profile crusher is a hammer-type crushing machine used for processing waste aluminum profiles, aluminum extrusions, aluminum window and door frames, curtain wall aluminum, aluminum tubing, thermal break aluminum profiles and other recyclable aluminum profile materials.
Feeding and Crushing
Prepared aluminum profiles are transferred into the crushing chamber by a conveyor or feeding device. The high-speed rotor drives the hammers to repeatedly impact, deform and break the material. Friction and compression between the hammers, liner plates and screen grate further reduce the profiles into smaller pieces.
The profile dimensions and material thickness must remain within the feeding limits of the selected crusher. Long profiles, complete window and door frames, bundled material and oversized aluminum scrap may require pre-cutting or primary shredding before entering the crusher.
Output Size Control
The screen grate at the bottom of the crusher helps control the output size. Materials smaller than the screen openings are discharged from the machine, while larger pieces remain in the crushing chamber for further crushing.
Feed Opening and Crushing Chamber
The feed opening and crushing chamber are selected according to the profile dimensions, material thickness and feeding method. Properly sized aluminum profiles can be continuously fed by conveyor. Material exceeding the crusher feeding limits should be pre-cut or processed by a suitable twin shaft shredder before secondary crushing.
Magnetic Separation and Downstream Sorting
After crushing, a magnetic separator can recover exposed ferrous components such as screws, steel brackets, hinges and iron fittings from the processed material.
The remaining non-magnetic fraction can be screened or sent to additional sorting equipment according to its particle size, composition and required recovered products. An eddy current separator may be used to recover conductive non-ferrous metals from a suitable non-metallic material stream after ferrous metal removal.
An eddy current separator does not normally separate mixed aluminum, copper and other non-ferrous metals into individual high-purity products. Additional sorting equipment may be required when separate metal fractions are needed.
