Equipment Introduction

Color Steel Tile Shredder

The color steel tile shredder is a low-speed, high-torque machine used for the primary size reduction of corrugated steel sheets, roofing panels, galvanized sheets, light steel cladding and similar thin ferrous scrap.

Typical materials include loose color steel tiles, prepared roofing sheets, light wall panels without unsuitable filling material, thin steel fabrication offcuts and other bulky sheet-metal waste. Material dimensions, thickness, folded condition and attached components should be evaluated before the shredder model and cutter configuration are selected.

Two counter-rotating cutter shafts grip, fold, shear and tear the sheet material into shorter, coarse and irregular pieces. The shredding process reduces material volume and makes long or bulky panels easier to convey, inspect, separate, bale or transport.

The discharged material is not a precise, screen-controlled final product. When smaller and more consistent output is required, the shredded sheet metal can be transferred to a scrap steel crusher for secondary hammer crushing.

Bundled or tightly compressed color steel tile scrap may require controlled opening and feeding before shredding. High-density steel bales should be evaluated separately according to bale dimensions, weight, compression density and internal material composition.

After shredding or secondary crushing, a magnetic separator can recover exposed iron and steel from suitable mixed processed material. Clean color steel tile scrap normally does not require magnetic separation for basic ferrous recovery.

If the incoming material contains plastic film, foam, insulation or other lightweight non-metallic components, screening, airflow sorting or manual inspection may be added according to the required recovered fractions.

The color steel tile shredder can operate as an individual machine or form part of a scrap steel shredding production line with controlled feeding, discharge conveying, optional secondary crushing, magnetic separation, dust collection and centralized control.

Thick steel plates, solid shafts, heavy structural sections, sealed containers, pressure vessels, batteries, fuel tanks and hazardous materials require separate handling or another processing method.

Working Principle

Color Steel Tile Shredder Working Process

Material Inspection and Preparation

Color steel tile scrap should be inspected before feeding. Thick structural steel, sealed containers, batteries, pressure vessels and hazardous materials must be removed or handled separately.

Sandwich panels containing foam, rock wool, adhesive layers or other filling materials should be evaluated separately according to their construction and the required downstream process.

Controlled Feeding

Loose or prepared roofing sheets are loaded into the feed hopper by a conveyor, grapple, loader or another suitable material-handling device. The feeding method should match the sheet length, folded condition, bundle size and required capacity.

Long sheets should be fed in a controlled direction to reduce bridging and sudden accumulation above the shredding chamber.

Low-Speed Twin Shaft Shredding

Two gear reducers drive the cutter shafts to rotate toward each other at low speed and high torque. The cutter teeth grip and pull the steel sheets into the shredding chamber.

The material is repeatedly folded, squeezed, sheared and torn into shorter, looser pieces without relying on high-speed hammer impact.

Coarse Material Discharge

The processed sheets are discharged as coarse and irregular pieces. The output condition depends on cutter width, tooth design, cutter spacing, shaft speed, sheet thickness, material folding and the number of cutting passes.

A twin shaft shredder does not normally produce the same precise, screen-controlled output as a hammer crusher.

Optional Secondary Crushing

When smaller and more consistent output is required, the shredded sheet metal can be transferred to a scrap steel crusher for secondary hammer crushing and screen-controlled size reduction.

Optional Magnetic Separation

Magnetic separation may be used when the processed material contains iron or steel mixed with suitable non-magnetic residues. Clean color steel tile scrap may be collected directly without this stage.

Optional Light-Material Separation

When the incoming sheets contain protective film, foam, insulation or other lightweight attachments, airflow sorting or manual inspection may be added after suitable size reduction.

The required separation method depends on the type, amount and attachment condition of the non-metallic material.

Automatic Reverse Protection

When excessive resistance or a material jam is detected, the control system can stop and reverse the cutter shafts to help release the obstruction.

This function helps reduce prolonged overload on the cutters, shafts, reducers and motors, but it does not replace material inspection before feeding.

Material Collection

The shredded material can be collected directly, transferred to magnetic separation, sent to a baler or conveyed to a downstream crusher according to the required final result.

Features and Advantages

Shredder shredding chamber structure

  • Dual-shaft shearing structure: The color steel tile shredder uses two counter-rotating cutter shafts to grab, shear and tear light-gauge metal materials. It is suitable for primary shredding of color steel tiles, corrugated sheets, metal sheets, drums and other thin ferrous scrap.

  • Alloy cutter discs: The cutter discs are made of wear-resistant alloy steel. Cutter thickness, tooth shape and blade arrangement can be customized according to material thickness, feeding size and required output size.

  • Suitable for light-gauge metal scrap: The machine is designed for color steel tiles, thin metal sheets, appliance shells, paint buckets, metal drums, light scrap steel and similar recyclable metal materials. It helps reduce material volume before conveying, sorting, baling or secondary crushing.

  • Heavy-duty frame and housing: The machine frame and housing are welded with thick steel plates. The reinforced structure is suitable for continuous shredding work in scrap recycling yards, metal processing sites and light ferrous scrap recycling lines.

  • Low-speed and high-torque operation: The shredder operates at low speed with high torque. Compared with high-speed crushing equipment, the shredding process has lower impact and is suitable for bulky, loose and thin sheet materials.

  • Optional conveyor feeding: The shredder can be connected with a feeding conveyor and discharge conveyor for continuous material handling. Conveyor feeding helps improve feeding stability and reduce manual handling work.

  • Flexible production line integration: The color steel tile shredder can be used as a standalone machine or connected with magnetic separators, scrap metal crushers, dust collectors, sorting platforms, baling systems and other supporting equipment.

  • Custom configuration available: Feed opening size, cutter thickness, motor power, reducer type, conveyor layout, discharge height and control system can be customized according to material type, capacity requirement and site layout.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find common questions about scrap metal crushers, shredders, recycling lines, equipment selection, capacity configuration and operation requirements.

QHow do I choose the right color steel tile shredder?

A

The right model depends on the material type, thickness, feeding size, capacity requirement, output size, working hours, and site layout. If conveyors, magnetic separation, dust removal, or a complete recycling line are required, these should be considered during the initial design.

QDoes the machine need a dust removal system?

A

A dust removal system is recommended if the material has paint, coating, dust, or surface impurities. It can help reduce dust during shredding and conveying, improve the working environment, and make the production line cleaner.
