Equipment Introduction

Drum Crusher

Oil Drum and Paint Bucket Crusher Equipment Structure Diagram

Haoxing Machinery's Drum Crusher, also called an oil drum crusher or paint bucket crusher, is used for processing empty or properly pre-treated oil drums, paint buckets, 200L steel drums and other thin metal containers. The complete recycling line can include a dual-shaft shredder, hammer mill crusher, feeding conveyor, discharge conveyor, magnetic separator, optional dust collector and electric control system.

The line uses a two-stage size reduction process. Waste drums are first opened and torn by the dual-shaft shredder, and then further crushed by the hammer mill crusher. This process reduces bulky metal containers into smaller ferrous metal fragments for easier conveying, magnetic separation, storage and downstream recycling.

During hammer crushing, repeated impact and friction can help loosen part of the paint, rust and surface attachments from the metal surface. After crushing, the material can be processed by magnetic separation to recover ferrous metal from light impurities, paint flakes and non-metallic residues.

A dust collection system can be added according to site requirements to collect dust and fine particles generated during crushing and conveying. The line configuration can be selected according to drum size, material thickness, required capacity, output size and workshop layout.

This drum crusher production line is suitable for scrap recycling yards, metal container recycling projects, steel scrap processing plants and light scrap metal recovery production lines. For containers with oil, paint, chemical residue or other hazardous substances, proper emptying, cleaning or pre-treatment should be carried out before feeding into the equipment.

Working Principle

Drum Crushing Production Process

The drum crusher production line is designed for processing empty or properly pretreated oil drums, paint buckets, 200 L steel drums and other thin metal containers. The line usually adopts a two-stage process consisting of primary shredding and secondary hammer crushing.

Primary Shredding

Empty or properly pretreated drums and buckets are first fed into a dual-shaft shredder. The two cutter shafts rotate at low speed and high torque, using shearing, tearing and squeezing forces to open the containers and reduce them into strips or irregular pieces. This step reduces the material size and improves feeding stability for the downstream crusher.

Secondary Hammer Crushing

After primary shredding, the material is conveyed into the hammer mill crusher. Inside the crushing chamber, the high-speed rotating hammers repeatedly impact, tear and rub the metal pieces against the liners and screen grate. The material is further reduced into smaller fragments. The output size can be adjusted through the screen configuration according to the material thickness and recycling requirements.

Screening and Discharge

Properly sized fragments pass through the bottom screen and are discharged by a conveyor. Larger pieces remain inside the crushing chamber for further crushing until they reach the required discharge size.

Magnetic Separation

After crushing, the material can be conveyed to a magnetic separator. Ferrous metal is separated from light impurities, paint flakes and non-metallic residues for further collection and recycling.

Dust Collection

According to the site layout and material condition, the line can be equipped with a dust collector to collect dust and fine particles generated during crushing and conveying. This helps reduce dust dispersion in the working area.

Features and Advantages

Drum Crusher Line Features

Heavy-Duty Structure

The drum crusher is built with a welded steel structure and wear-resistant liner plates inside the crushing chamber. The reinforced machine body is suitable for processing oil drums, paint buckets, thin metal containers and other light scrap metal materials.

Two-Stage Processing

The production line can be configured with a dual-shaft shredder before the hammer mill crusher. The shredder first opens and tears the drums into strips or irregular pieces, and the hammer crusher then performs secondary crushing. This two-stage process is suitable for bulky, thin and hollow metal containers.

Hammer Crushing Process

Inside the hammer mill crusher, high-speed rotating hammers repeatedly impact and crush the shredded metal pieces. The screen configuration can be selected according to the required output size and recycling process.

Magnetic Separation Available

After crushing, the material can be sent to a magnetic separator to separate ferrous metal from light impurities, paint flakes and non-metallic residues. The final separation effect depends on the material condition and sorting equipment configuration.

Optional Dust Collection

The drum crusher line can be equipped with a dust collector according to the site requirements. It helps collect dust and fine particles generated during crushing and conveying.

Convenient Maintenance

A hydraulic opening system can be installed to simplify hammer inspection, liner replacement and screen maintenance. Wear parts can be inspected and replaced based on actual use.

Customizable Configuration

The production line can be customized according to the drum size, material thickness, required capacity and site layout. Available customization options include:

  • Feed inlet size

  • Motor power

  • Crusher model

  • Screen configuration

  • Conveyor layout

  • Magnetic separator

  • Dust collection system

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find common questions about scrap metal crushers, shredders, recycling lines, equipment selection, capacity configuration and operation requirements.

QWhat maintenance is required for a drum crusher?

A

Maintenance mainly includes checking cutters or crushing rollers, hydraulic parts, bearings, seals, bolts, lubrication points, and safety guards. When processing oil drums or paint drums, the feeding area and residue collection parts should also be cleaned regularly.

QDoes a drum crusher need dust removal equipment?

A

Dust removal equipment is recommended depending on the drum material and site requirements. During crushing, paint coating particles, rust, dust, or residue may be generated. A suitable dust collection system can help improve the working environment and meet environmental protection requirements.

QWhat final discharge size can be obtained after crushing drums?

A

The final discharge size depends on the crusher model, screen opening, blade or hammer structure, drum thickness, feeding size, and recycling requirements. The machine can be configured to produce suitable metal pieces for transportation, sorting, furnace feeding, or further processing.

QCan a drum crusher be used in a complete recycling line?

A

Yes. A drum crusher can work with conveyors, magnetic separation, dust collection, liquid collection, baling equipment, and control systems. For paint drums or oil drums, explosion prevention, residue treatment, and local environmental rules should also be considered.

QHow do I choose a suitable drum crusher model?

A

The suitable model depends on drum diameter, drum height, wall thickness, material type, residue condition, hourly capacity, and feeding method. For standard 200L drums, the machine opening, crushing force, and safety protection should be confirmed before selection.

QCan a drum crusher process oil drums and paint drums?

A

Yes. A drum crusher can process many types of oil drums, paint drums, and similar metal containers. If the drums contain oil, paint, gas, pressure, or chemical residue, they should be safely emptied and pre-treated before crushing.

QWhat is the main purpose of crushing waste drums?

A

Drum crushing reduces the volume of 200L oil drums, paint drums, chemical drums, and other metal containers, making storage, transportation, baling, and recycling easier. Drums with liquid residue, pressure, or hazardous contents should be cleaned or pre-treated before crushing.

QWhat materials can a drum crusher process?

A

A drum crusher can process waste metal drums, oil drums, paint drums, chemical drums, 200L steel drums, iron barrels, and similar metal containers. For sealed drums or containers with liquid residue, pre-treatment such as opening, emptying, or cleaning is recommended before crushing.

QDo you have a drum crusher with a capacity of 200 liters?

A

Yes. Drum crushers can be configured for 200L metal drums and similar containers. The final model should be selected according to drum size, thickness, feeding method, and required crushing effect.

QCan a drum crusher process Taiwan-made drums?

A

Yes. Whether a drum crusher can process the material mainly depends on the drum size, wall thickness, material type, and required output size. The machine configuration can be selected according to the actual drums.
