Project Overview
Case Study: Jiangsu Scrap Yard Installs Haoxing UBC Shredding and Sorting Line, Achieves 8 Tons/Day and 99% Aluminum Purity
Project Overview
Mr. Zhang operates a scrap aluminum recycling yard in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, focusing on used beverage cans (UBCs), aluminum turnings, and alloy offcuts. Facing tightening environmental regulations and rising labor costs, his previous "manual sorting + baling" model became increasingly unprofitable. In 2024, after material testing and consultation with Haoxing Machinery, Mr. Zhang invested in an HX-YL800 UBC Shredding and Sorting Line.
Equipment Configuration
| Equipment | Model/Specs | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Dual-Shaft Shredder (Primary) | HX-SS600, 22kW×2 | 1 unit |
| UBC Hammer Mill (Secondary) | HX-YL800, 37kW | 1 unit |
| Magnetic Separator | CX500, 2.2kW | 1 unit |
| Eddy Current Separator | ECS600, 4kW | 1 unit |
| Pulse Jet Baghouse Dust Collector | DMC-80, 5.5kW | 1 unit |
| Belt Conveyors (Infeed/Discharge) | B650 | 3 units |
Process Flow
Waste UBCs → Chain Conveyor → Dual-Shaft Shredder (Coarse Crushing) → Hammer Mill (Fine Grinding) → Magnetic Separation (Iron Removal) → Eddy Current Separation → Clean Aluminum Granules + Waste Residue.
Performance Results
Daily Throughput: Consistently achieves 6-8 tons per day, over 5 times more efficient than manual dismantling.
Aluminum Purity: After eddy current separation, aluminum granule purity reaches 98.5%–99%. The clean material is sold directly to local secondary aluminum smelters at a premium of $30–$45 per ton.
Labor Cost: The entire line requires only 2 operators (one for feeding, one for monitoring), reducing monthly labor expenses by approximately $2,500.
Environmental Compliance: The integrated dust collection system effectively controls airborne particulates, enabling the facility to pass local environmental inspections.
Customer Testimonial
"The biggest headache was always the iron lids and plastic films inside the cans. Manual picking was slow, expensive, and never fully clean. Since installing the Haoxing line, we just dump the cans in, and out come clean aluminum granules that smelters compete to buy. The line has been running for over six months with almost no downtime—just routine hammer changes." — Mr. Zhang
Project Value
This case demonstrates the ideal application of Haoxing's UBC shredding and sorting line for small to medium-sized aluminum recycling yards. For recyclers processing 3–10 tons of UBCs per day, this configuration offers a payback period of approximately 6–10 months, making it a highly profitable upgrade investment.
The same template can be used for material crushing tests, equipment production photos, delivery cases and customer installation site cases by changing the title, gallery, case type and project description.
