The aluminum recycling line is a configurable processing system used for prepared aluminum profiles, cast aluminum parts, machinery aluminum, used beverage cans, aluminum sheet offcuts and selected mixed aluminum scrap.

The processing route is selected according to the incoming material rather than built around a fixed equipment list. Properly sized aluminum scrap may enter sorting or crushing directly, while long, bulky, bundled or difficult-to-feed material may require primary size reduction by a twin shaft shredder.

When smaller and screen-controlled output or improved material liberation is required, the prepared scrap can be processed by a scrap aluminum crusher. The crusher uses high-speed hammer impact, while the shredder performs low-speed, high-torque coarse size reduction.

After shredding or crushing, a magnetic separator can recover exposed screws, steel inserts, hinges, shafts and other ferrous components from the aluminum-rich material stream.

Screening and material spreading may be added to control particle size and provide more uniform feeding. After ferrous metal removal and suitable material preparation, an eddy current separator may recover conductive non-ferrous metals from an appropriate non-metallic material stream.

An eddy current separator does not normally separate mixed aluminum, copper, zinc and other non-ferrous metals into individual high-purity products. Additional density separation, sensor-based sorting or manual sorting may be required when separate metal fractions are needed.

The aluminum recycling line can also include airflow sorting, dust collection, material collection conveyors and centralized control according to the contamination level, required recovered products and installation site.

Aluminum dross, aluminum ash, hot slag, fine aluminum powder and materials containing salt or unknown chemicals require separate process and safety evaluation. They should not be treated as ordinary aluminum scrap feed.

Aluminum Recycling Line Working Process

1. Material Evaluation and Inspection

Aluminum scrap should be evaluated before the equipment configuration is selected. Material dimensions, alloy type, thickness, attached steel, plastic, rubber, oil and other contaminants determine the required processing route.

Sealed components, batteries, pressure vessels, hot material, aluminum powder and materials containing unknown chemicals must be removed or handled separately.

2. Controlled Feeding

Prepared material is transferred into the line by a belt conveyor, chain plate conveyor or another suitable feeding system. The feeding equipment is selected according to the material dimensions, weight and required capacity.

3. Optional Primary Shredding

Long profiles, complete window frames, bundled aluminum and bulky irregular parts may first pass through a low-speed, high-torque shredder. This stage reduces the material into shorter, coarse pieces for stable conveying or downstream crushing.

Primary shredding is optional. Properly sized offcuts and prepared parts may enter the next processing stage directly.

4. Optional Hammer Crushing

When smaller and more consistent output is required, the prepared material enters a hammer crusher. A high-speed rotor drives the hammers to repeatedly impact, deform and break the aluminum scrap.

The screen grate helps control the discharge size, while crushing exposes attached steel and loosens suitable non-metallic components for downstream separation.

5. Magnetic Separation

The processed material passes through magnetic separation. Exposed screws, hinges, steel inserts, shafts and other ferrous components are recovered from the aluminum-rich material stream.

6. Screening and Material Spreading

Screening separates oversized, undersized and fine fractions when required. A material spreading device or vibrating feeder can provide a more uniform layer before subsequent sorting.

7. Optional Eddy Current Separation

After ferrous metal removal and suitable material preparation, eddy current separation may recover conductive non-ferrous metals from appropriate non-conductive residues such as plastic, rubber or glass.

Additional sorting may be required when aluminum, copper, zinc or different aluminum alloy fractions need to be collected separately.

8. Optional Airflow Sorting

Airflow sorting may help remove protective film, foam, loose plastic, rubber, dust and other lightweight impurities when sufficient density and aerodynamic differences exist.

9. Dust Collection and Material Collection

Dust collection can be configured around crushing, screening and conveyor transfer points. Recovered materials are transferred to separate collection areas according to the selected process.

10. Centralized Line Control

The control system coordinates the connected equipment and manages start, stop, interlocking and emergency protection. The line capacity is determined by the complete process rather than one machine alone.

  • Heavy-duty structure: The main crusher and shredding equipment are built with a reinforced steel frame, wear-resistant liners and durable crushing parts for continuous aluminum scrap processing. Bulky aluminum scrap is first reduced into smaller pieces, and then further crushed to prepare the material for screening, magnetic separation and eddy current separation.

  • Screening and eddy current separation: According to material composition and output requirements, a vibrating screen and eddy current separator can be added after magnetic separation. The screen helps classify materials by particle size, while the eddy current separator helps separate aluminum and other conductive non-ferrous metals from non-metallic materials.

  • Dust collection and material handling: The line can be equipped with dust collection and conveying systems according to material condition and site layout. Enclosed or semi-enclosed configurations can also be selected to help reduce dust during crushing, conveying and sorting.

  • Suitable materials: The aluminum recycling line can process various recyclable aluminum materials, including scrap aluminum profiles, aluminum alloy scrap, thermal break aluminum, aluminum extrusions, cast aluminum parts, machine aluminum, UBCs, aluminum sheets and mixed aluminum scrap. For aluminum dross, aluminum ash or materials with high dust content, the configuration should be selected according to material condition and local handling requirements.
